What exactly is Neuromodulation?
Neuromodulation is a nonsurgical technique using prescription injectable products (Botox,® Dysport®, Xeomin®) derived from natural substances to soften, smooth, or prevent wrinkles from deepening around the eyes, forehead, neck, mouth, and chest. Neuromodulators block a chemical that aids in muscle contraction called Acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is still released when the nerve sends a signal to the muscle to contract. However, it can no longer bind anywhere on the muscle due to the Botox/Dysport/Xeomin. The muscle can no longer contract, and is more smooth and relaxed as a result.
Where do Neuromodulator's come from?
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are derived from a bacteria that is found in the soil that is called Clostridium Botulinum.
Does it work immediately?
The muscle needs time to absorb the medicine and for the receptors to be triggered. Botox/Dysport typically takes 24-72 hours to begin working and reaches maximum effect in most patients in 10-14 days. We book a follow up appointment about a week after the initial to ensure that everything is on the right track.
Is it permanent?
Typically, a treatment will last 3-6 months depending on the speed at which the body metabolizes the neurotoxin. Having treatments done regularly only puts a pause effect on the aging process. If you decide to stop receiving treatments your lines will gradually revert back to how they were post-procedure.
Will the treatment hurt?
No, treatments are done with very small needles and a numbing cream is available but not typically needed. The injections are normally felt as a small pinch or bug bite, and few patients will notice small amounts of redness or bruising.
Which areas can I treat?
Area's you can treat include forehead lines, (furrows or worry lines), frown lines (11's), bunny lines, crows feet, eyebrow lift, gummy smile, lip lines (smokers lines), lip lift, down turned mouth, chin dimples, and neck lines (tech lines or platysmal bands). Therapeutic neurotoxin can also be used to treat chronic migraines and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
How much will it cost?
The cost of the procedure includes both the product cost as well as the skill and time of the practitioner. We provide area pricing based on the area being treated, not based on the units of injections that are used. Male muscle tends to be larger & stronger, therefore pricing may increase as the amount of product being used increases. Our prices are competitive, affordable, and we accept most major credit cards!
